People don't know that I:: can also Hula and dance Gypsy Style; I can balance a sword on my head and do the splits. I also practice henna/mehandi. I also research Historical Dance - specializing in Dance in Pre Islamic Egypt (the Bacchanal) and 16th c. Ottoman Dance. I do this through the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). About Me:: I have been learning/studying bellydancing since I was 18 years old. It all started with a book at a library.

I always wanted to dance and had taken ballet and tap as a child. Puberty ended the ballerina dream when two prominent additions started sprouting (A famous burlesque dancer calls them "the Twins"). So when I found this book with a very curvy, voluptuous woman bellydancing, I discovered I could continue my dream of dancing.

I studied with Lynn Curtis while at Auburn University (God bless his sweet gay soul), as well as searching out professional instructors in the SCA - who usually taught for free. From there I discovered the professional 'circuit' and began attending workshops as my budget would allow me. Zhaleh Farresteh was the most influencial bellydancer in my training. I have also studied with Shoshanna, Fatchance Bellydance (Carolena Nerricho & Megha), Suhaila Salimpour (goddess divine), Tamalyn Dallal, Dahlia Carella, Mesmera, Gina of Atlanta, Sharon Kihara, Kami Liddle, Azziza in Birmingham and Ultra Hip Review.

My class philosophies:

To do the common, uncommonly well. This is better known as Virtuosity.

In order to improve, you must train at a level greater than your ability.

I will teach you as if you will perform someday - whether you do or don't.
You will not only learn how to dance but how to perform for various audiences - learning the do's and don'ts. You will learn the difference between Cabaret and Tribal and every little nuance inbetween.

MissiHIPPY is also the name of my dance troupe.
We perform at Aladdin's Grill in Fondren & Flowood and at Petra Cafe in Ridgeland.

Question

Why is it we try to calm our Heart, our breath and lower our blood pressure when we go see the doctor?

A friend was telling me about a recent Dr. visit when they had to redo his BP b/c his Blood Pressure couldn't be that High. Could it?

He said he really started breathing slow and concentrating on slowing his vitals down. It worked and the the Doc spared him whatever scary consequence - ER trip, crazy meds.

My Question again, why do we not work on this all the… Continue
