WHY:Proceeds from the $10 suggested donaton go to the MISSISSIPPI SCHOOL for the ARTS MUSIC DEPT. and to assist Linda in her ongoing bout with terminal kidney cancer.
If you were around the metro music scene in the 80's and 90's you most likely enjoyed the popular "songwriter nights" organized by Linda Watts. If you missed them, now is your opportunity to experience an intimate evening with some of the area's most talented people performing their own original songs. Linda, a songwriter herself, organized and staged the songwriter nights in various venues around the metro area providing a stage for musicians to perform (and in some cases try out new) original songs. This special evening will honor Linda's vision and spirit by bringing together some of her favorite songwriters, including musicians she has interviewed for various publications over the years, as well as her many friends and admirers... and anyone who loves good songs. Don't miss this special event at HAL & MAL'S.
The lineup reflects the era of her events (lotsa old timers in there), some of her favorite writing friends and folks she requested. J. Fred Knobloch who is
a friend/mentor/guru to her (and a special person to all of us) can't be there, will also there may be a couple of folks like Rhonda Richmond, SAJ & others who may drop by and do a song if they're in town (and we have time).
It should be fun for everyone, especially (hopefully most of all) Linda. She's feeling pretty good today but goes in for surgery the week following this event. Pray for miracles and at least, peace and physical comfort.True to her nature she wants to benefit THE MISSISSIPPI SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS (MUSIC DEPT.) in Brookhaven but we are also wanting proceeds to help her with her medical and other expenses in this fight of her life. It's a grass roots kinda thang so thanks so much for helping get the word out.
Much love and appreciation
